Emma Stuart is the founder and Managing Director of Brownstone Consulting, working in Defence, and Defence Industry, since 2000.
Emma brings extensive management, program, and project experience at the operational and strategic levels for Federal and State government, which includes the Department of Defence and in the Private sector, with Small to Medium Enterprises (SMEs), Indigenous Owned entities and major global companies.
Emma has extensive experience in Commonwealth Procurement and Contracting for the Department of Defence, as well as the Private sector, working on significant complex national projects, which include major mobilisations, business transformations, leading major tender submissions, high level negotiations and operational and performance assessments.
A driven, and focussed project and business professional with over 20 years’ experience with Defence. Ben has an excellent understanding of program and project management, developing and executing business development plans, generating and nurturing client relationships, developing business strategic plans, information analysis, human-centred-design, tendering, procurement and contract negotiation within Defence and the defence industry.
As a former Naval Officer with eighteen years’ experience in the Royal Australian Navy, Ben has extensive exercise and operational planning, personnel management, training, leadership and decision-making experience.
Ben has led project planning teams of Defence and other Government agencies staff, developed and implemented transformational change to a defence industry SMEs business processes and strategic plans resulting in increased industry reputation and contract award rates.
A diligent business manager, Kate brings a depth of experience working with multiple small businesses in a range of complex industries to ensure all operations run smoothly at Brownstone.
Kate’s meticulous eye for detail ensures Brownstone’s leadership and team of consultants have the resources, processes and policies in place to seamlessly deliver projects of the highest calibre while keeping the business productive, efficient and organised at all times.
Darren is an accomplished leader, logistician, and engineer with over 23 years’ experience working for, and providing professional services to, the Australian Government.
Darren has a wealth of experience working within highly complex, technical, and regulated environments, with a wide range of defence stakeholders both domestically and internationally. Darren has demonstrated performance and experience in major acquisition and sustainment of defence aviation capabilities.
As Director Business Operations, Darren assists in shaping the Brownstone long term strategy, drives strategic initiatives, identifies and implements efficiencies, and ensures effective resource allocation to support the ongoing success and productivity of Brownstone Consulting.

Travis is a qualified systems engineer and program management professional with over 15 years’ experience delivering new capabilities in the defence sector. With an outcomes-based mindset, Travis is equally confident leading operationally focused teams through to being a trusted advisor to senior executives.
His experience in complex projects has reinforced the importance of project teams adopting agile methods in order to successfully respond to change in a dynamic environment. Rapid and frequently changing requirements, often informed through subjective assessment of incomplete material, present planning dilemmas for decision makers.
